Acquisition of CTP Chemicals & Technologies by Aditya Birla Chemicals Thailand

Aditya Birla Chemicals Thailand (ABCTL) announced today the acquisition of 100% equity stake in CTP Chemicals and Technologies for Polymers GmbH and 50% equity stake in CTP Advanced Materials GmbH (CTP AM) in Germany through Aditya Birla Chemicals (Europe) GmbH.
 
Says Mr. Pradip Kumar Dubey, President – ABCTL Epoxy Business: “CTP and CTP-AM are a strategic fit to ABCTL and the combined entity has a potential to create significant value to our customers. This strategic acquisition further strengthens our position in the epoxy resin and curing agent business. It helps in creating better engagement and improves our ability to serve customers in Europe.”
 
Says Dr. Erhard Jacobi (CEO, shareholder and founder of CTP GmbH): “We found in ABCTL, an old businessfriend, a strategic partner, with its complete resin-product portfolio that complements our broad range of CeTePox curing agents and modified resins. The site in Russelsheim and the CTP team will play a major role in the expansion into the European epoxy business of ABCTL.”

CTP AM, started in 2005, is a Development and Marketing Company serving the Electrical and Composite Industries; especially with innovative products for the growing windmill/ rotor blade industry. Products for CTP-AM are manufactured by CTP. CTP and CTP-AM have a strong brand image as a supplier of specialty products and solutions provider with
an excellent application knowledge base in Europe, particularly in Germany. They have a wide range of products (> 200 customized products), serving more than 350 customers across construction, coatings, composites and electrical segments. CTP GmbH and CTP AM GmbH are privately held limited liability company having its office in Germany. Both companies market its products under the trade mark CeTePox. The Revenues in FY 2012 for both companies is approx. 60 Million EURO.
Dr. Erhard Jacobi (CEO and founder of CTP GmbH) & Dr. Jürgen Schillgalies (CEO and founder of CTP AM) will hold their positions and continue to work from the Duisburg office.

Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand), part of the Aditya Birla Group, is engaged in the production of five major product categories, namely chlor-alkali, epichlorohydrin, epoxy resins, phosphates and sulphites. ABCTL had a gross turnover of approx. 300 million EURO in FY 2012.
